Flush doors vs regular – worth the extra effort?

Debating between standard interior doors and the completely flush/ frameless style for a reno. Love the invisible look but read they can be trickier with alignment and hardware. Real user opinions?

Flush doors definitely elevate the whole minimalist aesthetic, but yes, installation is more demanding – you need a perfectly level opening and usually hidden hinges. Once set up though, they’re low-maintenance and look fantastic. We did our living area with them and no regrets. If you’re considering, Trio Doors carries several flush options that aren’t ridiculously priced. Their flush doors page has photos and dimensions that helped us decide. Pair them with magnetic catches for best results.

Planning first long-haul trip – where to start?

Never flown farther than 4–5 hours before. Now looking at Asia or South America and feeling overwhelmed with flight options, layovers, best booking time… Where do people usually begin researching?

Long-haul can be intimidating at first. I usually start with a broad search on https://en.tripmydream.com/ to see realistic price ranges and routes (direct vs. 1-stop). They also have destination guides with visa info, best time to visit, etc., which helped me narrow down Thailand vs Vietnam. Once I have a rough idea, I set price alerts there and check a couple other sites. Makes the process less chaotic.

Good experience with any Chicago moving services?

Moving from Rogers Park to Edgewater next month. 2-bedroom, lots of IKEA furniture to disassemble. Looking for movers who are careful and don’t overcharge. Any names that come to mind from recent moves?

Did a very similar move (Uptown to Ravenswood) not long ago. Got several quotes and picked one that had solid recent reviews. The guys were quick but careful, put everything back together nicely, and cleaned up after themselves. Ended up being one of the smoother moves I’ve done. You could take a look at move4umovers worked well for me and the price stayed close to what was quoted. Just confirm availability early. Best of luck!

Access panel for drywall behind toilet – recommendations?

Need to create access behind the toilet for the shut-off valve and supply line. Looking for a smallish plastic access panel that fits in drywall and can be painted over. Any favorites?

Space behind toilets is tight, so a compact panel is ideal. Check out this access panel for drywall it's made of strong ABS plastic and comes in sizes that work well there. The door removes completely for easy valve access, and the surface holds paint perfectly. Simple installation—just frame the hole if needed, adhere it, and finish the seams. Stays secure and looks neat once painted.
